Q. Do I have to erase the Scanned Items File (outdata.txt) every time I count a new section?
A. YES! Erase the file so that previous scans do not affect your count results. To erase the file, press [2] (Clear Reconcile File)
from the Main Menu screen.
Q. When do Ineed to create a new Products File (indata.txt)?
A. A new Products File (indata.txt) must be created when:
l New products are added to your system.
l Product information is modified in your system.
Best Practice: Create a new Products File (indata.txt) every day the MC1000 inventory scanner is used.
Q. I just charged my MC1000 inventory scanner, but I am receiving a Backup Battery is low warning. Is my device
defective?
A. No. The backup battery is a small battery inside the handheld that gets charged when you start using the device out of the
cradle. The message will go away with use of the device. You can continue scanning even if this message is displayed.
Q. Im stuck in a screen; what’s the easiest and safest way for me to get out of it?
A. Place the handheld in the cradle and manipulate the handheld’s menus using AscendScan’s Remote Control program.
To open the Remote Control program: From the computer’s Start menu, select All Programs > AscendScan > Windows
CE Remote Viewer.
Q. I am receiving one of the following errors; how do Ifix it?
l SCAN_ENABLE FAILED
l Memory allocation error
l Program memory low
A. Press [ENT] to close the error message. Place the handheld in the cradle and increase the program memory, see Adjust the
program memory. (see page 6)
Q. How do Iknow if the MC1000 inventory scanner battery is charged?
A. When the battery is charging, the orange light at the top of the screen blinks. When the battery is completely charged, the
light turns solid orange.
Q. I've followed all troubleshooting tips, but the MC1000 inventory scanner continues to display an error message;
what do Ido now?
A. Perform a Cold Boot:
IMPORTANT: Performing a Cold Boot re-sets the MC1000 inventory scanner to its factory default settings. Products in the
Scanned Items File (outdata.txt) are not affected.
